Seaview Project services in East Sussex

There are several programmes run by the Seaview Project, and most of them are provided from the Wellbeing drop in centre. Highly trained staff from the organisation offer the needy free information, and they believe one on one support can help bring positive change. The four core services are housing, personal development, low cost food, and health-care.

Addressing hunger is a key function of the charity. Both the homeless as well as families living in poverty in East Sussex may be able to get assistance when they need some form of emergency food. There are normally vouchers given out to food banks, which may have enough items in the parcel to last a few days, as noted below.

People can drop in at the well being centre for housing assistance. A dedicated team from Seaview Project has been in place to help East Sussex residents that are homeless or are in rent arrears and threatened by it. The agency will help people in a crisis, coordinate placement into affordable homes, and they run a homeless outreach service too.

The homeless, or tenants facing eviction, can receive help. The housing team will provide advice on dealing with rent arrears or other breaches of a tenancy agreement. If someone needs to find an affordable flat to live in, then the team can assist clients with applying for deposit schemes as well. They also help people with anti-social behavior or ex-offenders with their housing needs.

Outreach is available. Volunteers explore Hastings to locate the homeless or rough sleepers. They will be given a meal, and then placement into the accommodations noted below, if there is room.

Emergency accommodation is provided for rough sleepers in East Sussex. The Crisis Accommodation schemes gives individuals in poverty short term housing in either a shelter or local hostel as well as showers, laundry, and clothing. Then, development below will take place. When it is time to move on, the person can explore the local Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea council schemes for deposit payments.

Meals and food are provided by Seaview Project. There are two main programmes, and if a meal is served, then it will be offered at a low cost. It may be breakfast or a lunch. However, parcels of food may be offered in partnership with churches and charities. This is for families on a low income in East Essex. Staff from Seaview Project can provide a voucher to a local food bank, and this can last for up to 3 days.

Personal development, also job training, is another core service for people in the East Sussex community. Individuals can take classes on cooking or IT classes. There are other activities, many of which are coordinated by peer leaders, which are volunteers from the community. These workshops can help a family get on the patch to independent living. The key service as part of development in educational and work placement programmes.

St John Ambulance and Seaview Project partner together on numerous healthcare services and clinics. There is assistance provided from nurse-led drop-in centres. There are other staff available at the site, including podiatrist and general volunteers. These clinics are focused on people in poverty. The homeless can also stop by the site as well, which is located at Southwater Centre.

Many types of care are arranged, such as for wound care or general support. If the nurses at the clinic can’t treat the patient, then they will refer the person to more specialised services. There are also GPs in East Sussex which work at the clinic as well to assist the low income.
