Derby shelters and short term housing

Several agencies in the city of Derby provide shelter to residents that need a place to live over the short term. There are other benefits to using these emergency accommodations, and they include that the individual will be able to partner with a key worker to address the cause of the hardship. The emergency accommodations can also allow people to gain stability so that they can eventually move into their own private or social housing.

The main centres in the city are below. There are locations for homeless men, people with mental health problems, the disabled and ex-offenders. The shelters in Derby may aim to help a person of a certain background, so there will be eligibility conditions. Also, most locations only have so much room so not everyone will be able to use a centre.

The council will direct residents to some not-for-profits. Derby Homes is run in partnership with the City Single Point of Entry service. Most of the beds at the not-for-profit are for men, however couples can sometimes use the shelter or receive other housing support. All applicants need to be over the age of 18 and there is also a reserve list in place. The address is Milestone House, 93 Green Lane, Derby, DE1 1RX, telephone 01332 642150.

Padley Homeless Centre helps the vulnerable. They can use the accommodations for both a place to stay as well as receive a free meal or clothing. The shelter is at 3 Becket Street and the phone number is 01332 331280. Or residents can read more on Padley services.
