Vineyard Church Storehouse programmes in Glasgow

Vineyard Church offer assistance to the vulnerable in Glasgow. The programmes they provides, such as a food bank, benefit advice and debt counselling, mostly are aimed at families on a low income that are local to North and West areas of Glasgow.

Practical support is mostly provided from the Storehouse food bank. It is open one day per week, but if someone is faced with a crisis then they can drop in at the Vineyard Church for an emergency bag of groceries or a meal. Most of the free food parcels are for residents in Knightswood, Drumchapel, and Anniesland in Glasgow.

What may be provided at the food bank is limited. It also varies based on donation levels, as Glasgow Vineyard Church relies on partners such as Waitrose as well as Morrisons. Many other individuals as well as restaurants also donate surplus groceries or even entire meals to the food bank.

Drop in at Storehouse on Saturday mornings. Food, such as tinned meats, fruits, or tea are passed out along with toiletries on this day. Other items from Glasgow Vineyard Church include free toothpaste for dental care, baby formula, nappies, and cleaning supplies. The charity will try to meet all requests of essential food and hygiene items. The main distribution centre is at Vineyard Centre, Linden Street, Anniesland.

Long term support from Storehouse at Glasgow Vineyard Church

This is a service that can help the destitute gain stability. Whether it is the free debt advice from the CAP Money Course or advice on applying for housing or welfare benefits, the team at the church will help address long term needs of clients.

Information, including DVDs, is available for debt and credit challenges. This is offered as part of the Glasgow Vineyard Church CAP Money Course and is available for free every several free months at the Anniesland Centre. It covers many issues that families on a low income and others struggle with.

The course can teach Glasgow people how to budget. This will allow them to increase their cash from their income so they have more money for everything from food to rent or transportation. CAP also addresses credit card debts and helps clients to deal with an arrears. Some Glasgow families also struggle with payday loans, and CAP Money will show them alternatives, including the benefits of using cash to pay for everyday bills.

Other long term advice is given by the team at Storehouse. Whether a client is living in poverty or is homeless, free advice is given. They address practical needs, such as how to never face hunger, and more informal cousnelling.

The service from Storehouse is non-judgmental. This means they do not case as much what caused the challenge, but rather focus on solutions. They also partner with other Glasgow agencies.

The Vineyard Church knows they can’t address all challenges themselves. So they also work with others, such as CAP on the debt class above, to help the disadvantaged. In many cases the team that are part of Storehouse do not hesitate to refer a client to other government schemes or not-for profit organizations. For more information, the post is 89 Dumbarton Rd, Glasgow G11 6PW, or call 141 334 6746.
