Several support services are offered by SPEAR to people facing homelessness in London. Prevention, outreach, and emergency aid can all be provided. Another focus is on those who are currently homeless as well as those with special situations, such as veterans and young people.

No matter your situation, the London organisation provides short term accommodation, outreach, job placement and more to those that qualify. Another focus is on benefit maximisation as well as helping clients obtain financial aid and schemes for paying their rent.

A small hostel for the homeless is based in Richmond and is known as Penny Wade House, or PWH. Guests of the shelter will be provided single room accomodations as well as access to en-suite bathrooms as well as a kitchen. There is also a training room that offers resources such as Job Club, IT tuition, and other services to clients.

The accommodations are meant to be short term in nature. The Penny Wade House and social workers from SPEAR will help people gain employment, education, and stability. After that occurs, they can locate suitable permanent accommodation somewhere in the London area. When ready to find new housing, they can also get help in applying for rental schemes or government housing benefits. The house and its staff will transform guests and put them path to stability.

Homeless prevention and ongoing support is offered for tenants. It is for people who have rent arrears and are facing eviction and/or homelessness. Staff will help clients find affordable accommodation in the Greater London area and help them pay the security deposit on it. This is for people facing a short term crisis, and the flats selected are usually part of the private rented sector.

Other support from the team is for those seeking resettlement, temporary and more permanent accommodation, and SPEAR will also give tenants free advice. Or receive information on your legal rights and responsibilities.

Tenancy Finder will help people locate flats and private housing. SPEAR works closely with some landlords and charities across London to place families into flats. It is generally for people with no other support or financial means available to them. This also helps landlords, as it will allow them to collect rent for their property.

Outreach is focused on rough sleepers in western London and nearby regions. A team from the not-for profit SPEAR organisation visit people at their locations and offers them assessment, outreach services, and other aid. They can address substance use issues, medical or mental health issues, and other concerns. They will also try to find accommodation for the rough sleepers and homeless in the borough.

Training, skills development, tuition grants and similar independent living services are provided. Social workers offer clients a person centred approach to clients in an effort to help them gain stability and reach their goals. Workshops are organised by a local Skills Development Officer and include job training and education. Financial assistance may also be offered, including for clothing or work equipment.

Housing and support for veterans is available. There is also assistance for other people, and their families, who are currently in the British Armed Forces. Some of the progammes available to them in South West London include employment and education, life skills training, and case management. There are also housing benefits, rent schemes available, and well as help in dealing with debts. Much more may be provided to veterans by SPEAR.

When seeking employment, a partnership with the Monument Trust can help. SPEAR has a Progression to Employment Worker who helps guests with training needs and enrolls people into a job club. This is for those looking for a change and the currently unemployed as well. When a jobseeker needs additional education, then help with tution payments is provided

Treatment is for people impacted by Drug and Alcohol. Many homeless people in London battle this abuse. So SPEAR works with Housing Associations, probation, and medical services to help clients. They can also be provided information on government social services.

A Resettlement Service is for rough sleepers. It operates in the area, including Wandsworth, Sutton, Richmond, Merton and other Boroughs. It can place homeless people in one bed properties or other accommodations. There is tenancy support provided too, and this includes access to employment, education, and job training.

Young people can get help from the Wilton Road project. They receive free advice, referrals for rent schemes and housing benefits, and more. The goal is to get them off the streets and into a shared room. A similar programme is available in Richmond, and it is known as Grove Road.
