Nottingham housing payments and help for rental costs

Numerous private organisations as well as housing authorities can help Nottingham families pay their rent in an emergency. People who are considered vulnerable and are facing a time crisis may be able to get financial aid from the Discretionary Housing Payment or maybe a grant from a charity. Clients can also work with an advisor on exploring any other benefits that may be available in Nottingham for addressing their housing expenses.

In addition to one time payments for rent arrears, there are other services available. For example, many tenants can turn to a legal centre for free aid and advice. Lawyers from the sites will try to provide counselling, and may even involve the individual’s landlord when needed. There are also Advice Centres or churches located across Nottingham that can direct needy families to local resources.

While anyone can look into these rental assistance programmes, they will often focus their limited aid on people that have a plan in place for stability. Clients will need to be working towards improving their finances, budgeting, paying down debts, and taking other steps. These Nottingham based organisations are only focused on offering emergency assistance with housing payment or rent arrears to people facing a crisis, and not someone that is experiencing ongoing poverty.

Sharon says:

I lost my council house in Nottingham as I was in rent arrears and then I lost my dad who past away and I went down hill. I then had a very bad time and that’s when the Nottingham council took my house from and I had to move in with my mum but I don’t get on with her as we argue a lot. I go out all day and comes home in the evening. She is 80 years old and should be on her own so can I get help to clear my rent. Someone must be able to help me before any thing happens to my mum. She should not take any of this at her age, so can any one help me in an emergency.
