Elim Connect Centre assistance programmes in Medip

The Elim Connect Centre is a charity that focuses on helping the vulnerable in the Wells region. They offer a number of services, such as the Street Level Access Programme and food from the Drop in Clinic, to struggling people. The team from Elim will also offer one on one support to help create a difference in the life of the client.

All of the information on their programmes is available at the Drop In Clinic. This is where people from the community can learn about the services available. They will have the opportunity to meet with a social worker and sign up for the programmes indicated below available as well. Also, there will be meals served to those use use the Elim Connect Drop In Clinic, and this is in addition to the community lunch which takes place twice per week.

A few different housing solutions are administered. Each of those is aimed at a different group of people from Wells and Somerset County.

The homeless and evicted can receive help from Street Level Access Programme, or SLAP. The social worker from Elim Connect Centre will meet with the individual to understand their challenge. All issues are tackled, whether it is addition, a mental health issue, or job redundancy.

Based on the results of the meeting with the client, solutions are found. They can be provided by Elim or other organisations in Medip or Wells. If the person is homeless, then they can move into the DAC hostel and also learn about deposit schemes. Substance abusers will also receive counselling in dealing with their condition. Throughout this process, basic needs will be met. The client will be served a meal and provided clothing if they need it, as well as other practical support.

Rough Sleepers can also use the Outreach Service. The centre is the leading agency for the homeless to call upon for assistance. They provide services all across Mendip. Not only can a person sleeping rough be given a bed to sleep in at the hostel, but they will partner with a key worker on other housing schemes too.

The Elim Connect Centre hostel is known as DAC, or Direct Access Community. This is a short term housing solution offered by them along with Addicott Partners and Mendip District Council. There are several beds for people sleeping rough. The individuals will also be given a support plan which can lead them towards stability. The aim is to get them off the streets of the borough.

Case workers offer one on one support. Whether the person Fneeds a job or something else, such as a voucher to a food bank in Somerset, this is offered. All the information and sessions are confidential. So the social worker is there, even just for a listening ear.

Job training and skills improvement will help people find a job in Somerset. The not-for profit will offer advice to clients. This can lead to more opportunities for them to gain new skills. The Elim Connect Centre will even put people into contact with local charities to volunteer at. Or individuals will be placed into other jobs.

Whether it is food or housing needed, the Elim Connect Centre can provide support. The address is Portway, Wells, BA5 2BE, or dial 01749 677 097.
