Crisis Centre Ministries emergency help in Bristol

The Crisis Centre Ministries in Bristol provides help to the low income and homeless. Whether it is a free breakfast from the Wild Goose Cafe or housing assistance from Spring of Hope, there are various assistance programmes provided to the vulnerable. Any help is also combined with job training from the Life Skills and Initial Training for Employment service.

The charity has been assisting the vulnerable in the area for many years. Some of what is provided, such as free food or meals, can help solve an emergency. But a key aim is to offer clients hope for a better future.

Get a free breakfast, lunch, or voucher to a food bank in Bristol from the Wild Goose Cafe. The programme is available six days per week and is open to anyone that is hungry or living in poverty.

There are many benefits available from the scheme. It mainly runs using volunteers from the community. So Crisis Centre Ministries can provide people work experience to those that need it, and they can get this from volunteering.

As far as the food goes, there are meals served. But the ministry is also part of the Trussell Trust food bank network in Bristol. This means that emergency parcels of groceries can be given to clients as well. The food can range from baby nappies to tinned meats and vegetables.

The Wild Goose Cafe is also an access point for people to receive information on government and non-profit schemes. There will be course held each week in which specialists from across Bristol provide information on assistance available to the vulnerable. Topics covered include employment, applications to housing benefits, budgeting, employment and more. They even have a medical clinic help weekly at the Crisis Centre.

Women from the city can move into emergency accommodations at the Spring of Hope. The shelter will only be available for up to 12 women, so it is limited in scope. Any temporary accommodations are also provided first come and served. So if the Spring of Hope fills up, the signposting may be given to other housing schemes in Bristol.

Spring of Hope aims to help women impacted by domestic abuse or some other crisis. Some clients to the shelter also are impacted by substance abuse or a job redundancy, and the volunteers at the ministry will determine if someone is qualified.

There is other assistance also given to women. The volunteers from the Crisis Centre will help them find a new home to live in, whether is it social or private housing. There is also signposting to Gloucestershire based counselling services or programmes to help with rental costs on a new flat. So Spring of Hope provides many forms of support to clients, including signposting to schemes that help with deposits.

Crisis Centre Ministries job training as well as practical skills are provided by LITE, or the Life Skills and Initial Training for Employment. This course is for anyone seeking long term support in Bristol. Whether they are seeking new skills for a better job or to increase income, the course can help.

There are different levels to LITE. First, the client gets assistance to build confidence. Then, the next stage is partnering with a social worker to gain new skills around employment to develop potential. If someone is an ex-offender, was homeless, is long term unemployed, or has a metal health problem, then the Ministries can still enroll them into the course.

As long as the person wants to make long term changes then they can benefit from Crisis Centre Ministries services. The main centre is at 32 Stapleton Road, Bristol, South West BS5 0QY, or call them at 0117 3301230.
